Using natural horsemanship methods, Chris Boyer and his team educate both horse and rider. From starting colts and building a strong foundation to build on, to correcting behavioral problems or working on advanced skills, our goal is to ensure proper communication between owners and their horses.
Chris embarked on his journey with horses at a young age, fortunate to receive guidance from New Mexico horseman Johnny Taylor, who himself had apprenticed under Ray Hunt. Spending several years under Taylor, Chris absorbed invaluable lessons in communication and an understanding of horses that was not widespread at the time.
After fifteen years on the east coast rodeo circuit as a successful tie-down roper, Chris transitioned into full-time horse training. Having witnessed numerous instances of poor and abusive training methods further fueled his resolve to aid horses by educating people. He recognized that while training individual horses addressed immediate needs, imparting knowledge to the riders could have a broader impact, potentially benefiting hundreds of horses.
Throughout his career, Chris has started hundreds of colts and handled challenging horses, refining a style of training now recognized as natural horsemanship. His expertise extends across various breeds and disciplines, including police mounts, grand prix hunter jumpers, dressage warmbloods, race track Thoroughbreds, reining horses, and champion endurance steeds, among others.
